Cartoons and God

Can God be laughed at?

Mostly not.

Most people hold some things sacred, and don’t like others making fun of these things.

For some it may be a book, for some it may be science, for others it may be their parents or themselves, and for some it may be a public figure.

A lot of people were pissed of by a cartoon published in 1949, being included in a text book. My initial reaction was, what the hell, why do some people take a cartoon to heart, and that too after so many years?

The more I think about it, I realized that, even though I may hold a very few things sacred, their are those few things, which I don’t like people poking fun at.

Do I really have a right to belittle people, who are angry, because some thing sacred for them was laughed at?

I really don’t know the answer today, but would surely like to find out.

Ten reasons not to start a company

1. An idea you have seems to make sense; but you haven’t researched it fully.

2. Every one else seems to be doing it and making a lot of money.

3. You want Mark Zuckerberg’s life and he’s just a kid.

4. You want to make a lot of money. Fast.

5. You’ve discovered the next category killer idea (why does this one never seem to work out).

6. You need a job (and don’t know what else to do).

7. If not now, never. Your career has stalled.

8. You hate your boss, industry, company or spouse.

9. You want an easier or more flexible schedule.

10. You want the prestige associated with being a founder.

Another brick in the wall

I wish I had had education
I wish my thoughts were controlled
Ooh how I wish I could be just another brick in the wall

Happy with a promotion and raise
Just going along with the latest craze
Cheering IPL teams to the hilt
    Humming the latest bollywood hit

oooh how I wish I could be just another brick in the wall

Never fighting for my rights
Never trying to scale lofty hieghts
Never dreaming crazy dreams
Never thinking of crossing the stream

oooh how I wish I could be just another brick in the wall

Never having the urge to create
Never trying to change the world
Never trying to break the rules
Never ever making myself a fool

oooh how I wish I could be just another brick in the wall

Not supporting the ceiling
Nor being the corner stone
Not even a part of the archway
        above the door

Just a brick
         simple and plain
Fitting into a plan
          and happy in it’s place

ooohh how I wish
    I could be just another
brick in the wall.

After the madness .. An ode to MSD

The streets were filled with people, almost all over India, celebrating a much anticipated win .. The Cricket world cup. It was sheer madness :)

Dhoni hitting the winning runs in ICC world cup 2011

Take a moment to reflect about the man who made it possible. Mahendra Singh Dhoni .. or MSD as he is known. The way he batted yesterday, the determination, the cool calculated batting, defines the man.

The decision of promoting himself was really brave. If he had failed, and India had lost, people would be baying for his blood. To shut this all from the mind and take such a decision takes guts.

The team contribution was immense .. No doubts. GOD was raining runs .. No doubt .. but in the end, If the plot was lost in the final .. all this would have come to naught.

After India won, MSD was in the background once again, letting SRT be the center of attention.

Kudos to MSD, my favorite cricketer and captain.

Thoughts on News Aggregation

There are so many things happening. Cricket World cup going on, Stock Market fluctuations, Wikileaks causing mayhem in the Indian Parliament, A friend getting married, A cousin posting his baby’s pictures …. The problem for me is, how to keep track of all these happenings.

This NEWS is published on various channels. Facebook, Twitter, CricInfo, News sites, blogs and so on. I would so love to get to the information that is important to me in one place.

slouching man reading paper

It should be like reading a newspaper, but a personal newspaper, created especially for me, with news that I am interested in.

So what I want is one site or page or app that would gather all the news for me and present it to me, all nicely formatted !

Is this something already available? Or are there things out there which achieve this goal partially?
